Today is the feast of St Agnes (name meaning lamb) a Saint and martyr who chose Jesus admidst great suffering. Today let's talk about the Lamb of God.
The old testament talks about how the Israelites sacrificed a lamb to God in atonement for their sins, or a bigger animal for bigger sins. In the new testament Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world, by sacrificing Himself to suffer and die so that He may be offered up in atonement for our sins so we have a chance at eternal life. Armies of Angels awaited Jesus's order to destroy the romans who were killing Him, yet He said "Forgive them!" He says that every time we pound a nail into His hands and feet as well. Wait what? We didn't do that you may say. but we do every time we sin. He shouts once again Father forgive them, for they know not what they do. He still is fighting for us even when we are lost in the darkness of sin. He beat sin and death, so all you need to do is come to Him in confession remorsefully and be healed! Completely cleansed of your sin and ready to go back out and do His will. We hurt Him by our sins but He continues to cling to us and the saints and angels and Mother Mary continue to pray for us til we realize our mistake and beg for forgiveness. Once we are forgiven we can go out made new by His love to spread the Joy of His saving grace and His Holy Divine Mercy with all of the world, by teaching them about Jesus's love and mercy, and by forgiving and acting merciful, gracious, and loving toward others as well.
John 1:29, John the Baptist Declares:
"Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"
