Jesus in Our Marriage

I do. Do you? through EVERYTHING???? Even this or that? Yes.

You say those words committing to love someone forever but do you know that you also are committing to have Jesus in the center of your marriage? If you got married in the Catholic Church with a proper ceremony then yes that’s exactly what it means. Marriage is a blessed sacrament between man woman and Jesus.

What a great wedding gift this is! That the beautiful sacred heart of Jesus is a part of our lives that he will be with us throughout all our married life. Helping and guiding us. If you are having a disagreement with your spouse, before you start an I’m right you’re wrong endlessly spiral instead take a second to pray about it silently or together pray to see the others perspective and how to handle the situation with Jesus in your heart as He would do.

It is a blessed sacrament to get married. God is Love Jesus showed us the ultimate form of Love when He came down from heaven. Close your eyes right now... well after you read this next part, think of this: God is Love. We are made in the image of God made with that same Love. At the sacrament of marriage that love those 2 people have becomes one in Jesus and Jesus is at the center of our married life. Everything we do or say must be done out of that Love.

Be wary of sins outside of marriage that could risk eternal salvation with Jesus. Ask yourself this.

Is Jesus’s love is in the center of our marriage? If We are made with that Love of God, How can we live that sacred Love out as a married couple in our everyday lives in times now a days? Think of some ways you can do that in your marriage? (Sacrifice, listening, selflessness, putting the other’s needs first, patience, understanding, etc) Maybe not doing that spa day or buying yourself something extra, but instead using that money for a nice date with my husband. Or how can we spend our time for Jesus as a couple? Maybe choosing a Catholic saint film for our movie night? Praying together as a married couple is a power weapon again the devil. My husband and I enjoy reading scripture together and discussing it.

How about volunteering together at your church together?

Also how can we as a married Catholic couple extend an olive branch to other Christian couples and anyone in need? How can we do God’s will of spreading the faith together as a married couple in Christ? How can we be examples of The Love of Jesus that we have in our marriage so to be a light and example to others? No longer thinking Me but instead thinking this (this is something from a sermon I heard a long time ago) JOY stands for Jesus first, Others second, you last. Marriage teaches us humility & to act as Jesus did putting others first. If you put Jesus first, then your spouse, then yourself last, your marriage will be beautiful and full of Love.

Jesus affirms the Genesis account of marriage, stating, "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate".
