The Church recently celebrated Holy week. This week I'm just going to give a short description of each day and its meaning for those new to the faith.
Palm Sunday: Sunday before Easter Sunday when in the bible people put palm branches down to celebrate the coming of Jesus to Jeruselem.
Holy Thursday: We celebrate the Last supper as well as the washing of the feet.
Good Friday: The day that Jesus Died on the cross for our sins. There was a great earthquake at the moment of HIs death.
Holy Saturday: Jesus descended to hell to proclaim the gospel to the dead and bring salvation to souls.
Easter Sunday: the third day when Jesus was raised from the dead, rolling away the stone defeating death and rising! Giving us all new life! Saving us from sin and giving us a chance at eternal life in Heaven with the Father.
Each year more and more people are joining the faith of Christ at the Easter VIgil ! Alleluia!
The Stations of the cross that we prayed on the Fridays as we go along the Passion of Christ with Him in Lent include:
1 Jesus is Condemned to Death
2 Jesus Carries the Cross
3Jesus Falls the First Time
4Jesus Meets His Mother
5 Simon Helps Jesus Carry His Cross
6 Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus
7 Jesus Falls a Second Time
8 Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem
9 Jesus Falls a Third Time
10 Jesus is Stripped of His Garments
11 Jesus is Nailed to the Cross
12 Jesus Dies on the Cross
13 Jesus is Taken Down from the Cross
14 Jesus is Laid in the Tomb
