One thing to do…
I’m currently learning about spiritual freedom while reading a book -Ignatius Adventure, a 32 Week Retreat Book. I pray that I may grow because I’m struggling with a specific thing. We all are weather we admit it or not. Mine I’ll tell you is that I tend to like shopping a bit too much which is sometimes harmless , sometimes it’s fun and it’s okay and it’s got more to do with spending time with friends and family. That’s not necessarily a sin, but when you make time for anything over other things are more important than time in Prayer & with Jesus or you focus too much on material things that are fleeting in this world when you must look up to heaven, then it can become an issue. You have to be prudent and temperate.
Prayer: Lord Jesus help me to be as you want me to be and to do Your will not My Own. Take from me things of this world from my eyes so I may fix them upon only your cross & by Your 5 Holy Wounds help me sacrifice more small things for others as you sacrificed so much for me. I want to say yes to Your call as Your mother Mary did. Mother Mary intercede for us as you did at Cana. Thank you Amen.
Example of the parable Jesus gave to the man. Would you follow me? Would you give up everything that you have and follow me & what I do?
Well, I just bought a really nice pair of shoes and a really nice blouse that I can’t wait to wear to sing at mass because I love dressing up. I find it really fun and important to dress properly in front of our Lord if financially able to, but I love Jesus more than any things so if he asked me to give all those things away, would I give everything away that I own and take up the cross He gives me and follow Him? everything? Would I wear rags and stand in the street as Saint Francis and Ignatius & So Many other saints did! That’s something I often ask myself, because I’ve been too spoiled at times. My family is a blessing and they have given me many things, but like Jesus said Martha, “you are troubled and worried about many things” I don’t wanna be anxious. I don’t want to be like that. I just want to focus on him. Focus my eyes in my heart upon your cross is my theme for this year. Some days I find myself joyfully living that vocation out while other times, I keep falling short of it and I need to focus more on it. I saw a clip from The Chosen, which is a great great show and the character who plays Matthew was talking Gias and he said something about how complicated families are in the Matthew wouldn’t understand (he’s an outcast tax collector) and he said you’re right I don’t understand but it doesn’t have to be complicated. He said because I have one thing to do today and that is to follow him.
One thing to do today follow him
Matthew in another “Chosen” clip I enjoy is where Jesus says to the disciples, “Above all, You Seek Understanding” & Matthew speaks up saying “I see You”.
•Do we Seek Jesus & Follow Him for our checklist for the day to be complete.
