I highly recommend looking up the story of Saint Nicholas, a real saint, who Santa is based on. He gave what He had to those in need. That's what christmas seaosn is about right? giving not reciving. God Gave Us The Greatest Gift Possible! Let's give God a christmas gift this year by giving to others.
The Wise men knew that He waws the Messiah and brought HIm great gifts, so if we know that He is the Messiah, do we offer our gifts for Him too?
The King of the world gave us the untimate gift of His life here on earth so we could have a chance at Heaven!
St Nicholas gave to those that needed it. He didn't care about wealth, but he knew the words of Jesus,
"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
We love Jesus right? We say we do at mass and everytime we say we are Catholics, okay thats great professing our faith to the world, but are we at times hypacritical?Even if we don't mean to be. Every mean word out of anger, every time we get mad at someone cutting us off in traffic, somone at work who doesn't treat us fairly, etc... do we love them? What about those of the other political party? So what we believe as Catholics something specific and should always abse our political decisiions on that good but do you judge others or continue to act as Jesus would toward them? Do you Love Everyone? Because that's loving Jesus. That's being a follower of Christ. We are in Advent preparing ourselves for Him Coming into the world. How can we do that better? Reflect on how you can do this in your own life...
Gift Giving; Okay so we give gifts to our family and close friends, but is that it? what about a thank you card to your priest, what about your mail lady walking through the snow to deliver a package to you for christmas and leaves a dog treat in the mail for your pup everytime? How about the homeless man by the gas station? Do you give him a gift this year? What about volenteering time at your church givingclothes, food, gifts to families with kids, or suffering from natural disasters? What about animal shelters? Pets get lonely and feel pain too.
So, at Christmastime, that's where you'd find Jesus right? He would be with all who gather in His name, but what would He be doing? having a grand feast?, or Wouldn't He be in the streets with the poorest of the poor, the suffering in hospitals, comforting them at Christmas? I see this on bumper stickers "WWJD?" (What would Jesus do?) Well Why don't we do that? Isn't That what Jesus would do?
This Christmas while you're cozy by the fire with loved ones in your homes, please don't forget those who aren't.
"Sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me"
Continue this time of Advent Preparing yourselves and others for the coming of Jesus.
BIBLE VERSE: Isaiah 6:3,
"Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!"
