Advent is a

Preperation time to prepare ourselves for Jesus coming down from heaven humbling Himself as a human baby for all of us on Christmas Day.

The First Candle-Purple- Hope (Hope for a savior to come)

The Second Candle-Purple- Peace (Peace Be With You)

The Third Candle- Pink-Joy (Joy is coming into the world)

The Fourth Candle-Purple-Love (The Greatest Love is coming soon)

Sometimes there is a White Candle in the middle called the Christ Candle usually lit on Christmas Eve or Christmas day marking the end of the Advent Season and that He has been born!

Purple is also a royal color as we are preparing for our King to be born.

The three purple candles represent a time of hope and preparing ourselves with confession, scripture, masses, prayers,etc.. for when He comes.

The Pink is lit on Gaudete Sunday a time of Joy and Rejoicing the coming of our King.
