You don’t need that Look at Me I’m right Here….Come to Me….I will give you rest.
Reflection Oct 12
I was reading the book The Imitation of Christ & one passage xxxii spoke to me. After reading it I instantly felt these words in my soul “I’m right here Look at me You Don’t need that. You Only Need Me” the passage had a clip about the men who came to Bethany not to see Jesus but to see Lazarus whom has been raised. And the passage was about the eye of the intention. Sometimes my focus when I go to a beauty church wanders if I see a gift shop with something nice that I might want or look forward to going there and getting something for myself and then next time I go to that church I think about the gift shop when I should be focused on Jesus right there! Like the Jews missing the point about going to see and follow Jesus so too we get distracted by shiny things of this life that we say tho they may be holy items or for holy reasons to help us to be more holy or to do more holy things in our lives like a new rosary even tho we have a collection or something like that instead focus on heavenly things not earthly things.
Maybe if you are going into that gift shop after mass focus on getting a gift for someone else or maybe some prayer cards or rosaries to give out to those people you know that are away from the faith who need them ?
He’s right there. He’s all we need to get to heaven. Too much earthly stuff will weigh us down. I’ve done a blog on this before. What do we put into our bag that we need for heaven vs the bag that weighs us down here on earth?
